Rehab after surgery, in your own home.
Physio from your first week home, following your surgeon's instructions, on your own stairs and in your own bathroom.
What does physio at home after surgery involve?
The short answer
Yoshiki follows your surgeon's instructions and works on what daily life at home needs: walking with or without an aid, stairs, getting in and out of bed, the car and the shower, and the exercises for your new hip, knee or shoulder. Visits can start as soon as you're home from hospital.
Who it helps.
- Hip or knee replacement
- Shoulder surgery or replacement
- A broken hip, wrist or other fracture
- Weakness after a hospital stay for an illness
- Coming home from hospital or a rehab unit
What a visit involves.
- We read your discharge letter or surgeon's instructions, including any movement limits
- We check your walking aid, stairs, bed, chair, toilet and shower set-up
- Exercises for strength and movement, progressed as your surgeon allows
- Updates to your GP or surgeon when needed, and a plan for when to space out visits
Why at home?
The first weeks after surgery are when getting to a clinic is hardest. At home we practise the stairs, bathroom and car you'll actually use, with your own furniture at your own heights.
Paying for it.
Private visits from $120, with health fund rebates claimed on the spot. These can help pay too:
Common questions.
Usually within a few days of getting home, once your surgeon or hospital team is happy. Request a visit before you leave hospital and we'll plan the first visit around your discharge date.
Not for private visits, but your discharge letter or surgeon's instructions help us follow your protocol. Medicare visits need a referral from your GP, and DVA visits a referral from your GP, surgeon or hospital team.
If your extras cover includes physiotherapy, yes, up to your fund's limits. We claim on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap.
