Physio at home with your DVA card.

Nothing to pay.

Smiling older woman greeting a physiotherapist at her back door

Can I use my DVA card for physio at home?

The short answer

Yes. With a Veteran Gold Card, or a White Card for an accepted condition, and a referral from your GP, your surgeon or your hospital team, DVA pays us directly for physio in your home. You pay nothing for your visits: no gap, no travel charge. Only a visit cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice is charged to you.

Who can use it.

  • Gold Card holders, for any condition that needs physio
  • White Card holders, for conditions DVA has accepted
  • Veterans living at home, in a retirement village or in residential aged care

What it costs.

Nothing for you. DVA pays our home-visit fee directly, and we accept it as full payment.

For GPs and advocates: DVA home-visit fees from 1 July 2026 are $82.75 for a first visit (PH11), $77.10 for a standard visit (PH21) and $96.75 for an extended visit (PH31). Travel is included in the fee.

About referrals.

A DVA referral covers up to 12 sessions, or one year if that comes first. Your GP can then refer again.

How to start.

  1. Ask your GP for a referral for physiotherapy.
  2. Request a home visit, or ask your GP to send the referral to us.
  3. We call you, check your card details and book your first visit.

Common questions.

Yes, for conditions DVA has accepted as related to your service. If you're not sure your condition is covered, call DVA on 1800 838 372 or ask us to check.

Only if you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, or nobody is home for the visit. DVA doesn't pay for missed visits, so the full visit fee is charged to you. With 48 hours' notice there's no charge.

Yes. DVA covers physio in residential aged care too, and we work alongside the nursing team.
